Habitat for Humanity is a Christian non-profit organization that builds houses and does repairs in partnership with families in need. Habitat families must apply and qualify based on housing need, income level and their willingness to partner with Habitat. All Habitat houses are purchased through a zero-interest mortgage. Due to safety restrictions, only volunteers ages 16 and older are permitted on a Habitat for Humanity build site. Your ages 16-18 may only work in a limited capacity and must avoid ladders, elevated wood surfaces, and the use of power tools. You can volunteer as an individual or a group. Many volunteers come to Habitat as a group through a church, organization, or school. Group size averages about fifteen people, but can be less or more.
Building homes alongside our partner families and construction staff on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and available workdays. No experience is necessary to volunteer with Habitat — we are a teaching organization. Tasks include framing, roofing, painting, landscaping, and installing siding, windows, doors and laminate floors.
Even if you’re not at all mechanically inclined or even the slightest bit handy, you can still help fulfill our missions by volunteering at our office in downtown Dunn. The Habitat Harnett staff is small and functions with the help of dedicated volunteers who share their time with us. Depending on their interest and abilities, office volunteers help with answering phones, clerical work and fundraising efforts, as needed.
Family Selection Committee: Habitat Harnett relies on the guidance and help of volunteers in the selection of our partner families and homeowners. Contact our office for more details. Event Committee: The goal of this Committee is to assist in the marketing and sponsorships of a Habitat Harnett’s
events. Contact our office for more details.
Habitat needs volunteers to serve families. However, nothing could happen without donations of money and materials.
